Donate for Development

The Millennium Development Ride welcomes you to partner with us by financially supporting the Millennium Development Goals.  100% of funds received by the Millennium Development Ride through online donates will support the work of our 8 Beneficiary Charities.  Together, these 8 organizations are among the leading non-governmental forces fighting poverty—putting donor dollars to the most efficient and effective use possible in direct support of the Millennium Development Goals.

Why these organizations? What about all the others?

We recognize that supporting international aid organizations can be daunting, confusing, and even downright stressful! There are hundreds of organizations out there that do good work.  How is anybody supposed to know how to choose among them?

The 8 Millennium Development Ride Partner Organizations were selected after an exhaustive review of nearly 200 international non-profit organizations working in health and development. Our selection process involved a detailed review of organizations’ websites, annual reports, and available tax forms, as well as a review of professional charity evaluations by Charity Navigator and GuideStar. We chose our Partner Organizations based on their expertise working in developing settings, their use of best-practice methodology and commitment to process improvement, their leadership in collaboration, their strength in international advocacy and policy decisions, their worldwide scope, and their transparent and responsible fiscal management.

You’ll notice our 8 partner organizations are each quite large—boasting operating expenses in the millions. Although size was not a specific criterion for selection, it was indirectly incorporated through consideration of scope and policy influence. Smaller or newer organizations are certainly quite important as well, but they are often not able to use donations as efficiently as larger ones, who benefit from “economies of scale.” Similarly, large and established organizations frequently have firm relationships with foreign national governments, helping increase their efficacy and influence in policy. Of course, since large organizations can be wasteful as well, it is important to assess any organization’s administrative costs. Each of the Millennium Development Ride’s 8 partner organizations boasts administration and fundraising costs that are proportionately among the lowest in their field.

Simply put, the 8 partner organizations have learned the “tricks of the trade” and have solid relationships with the people and governments they serve. In short, they do great work, do it all over the world, and do it in the most efficient and effective way possible. We like giving to work like this, and we hope you do too!
